Nikon Australia have announced the N-Log 3D LUT for the new Nikon D780 is now available in the Nikon Download Centre. The N-Log is Nikon’s very own logarithmic gamma curve will allow the details in highlights and shadows to be preserve and provide greater colour creative control. To record N-Log footage, the Nikon D780 must be connected to an external recorder that supports 10-bit video. Other Nikon cameras that can support this software update program include the Z7 and Z6.
The N-Log takes full advantage of the camera sensor’s dynamic range to provide exceptional flexibility over the video output’s exposure and look. The lookup table (LUT) contains the preselected values used in movie colour-correction to map colours from the original input footage to the desired colours in the final output. Additionally, colour correction is performed by looking up input colours and assigning them new RGB values based on the data in the table. Each combined RGB value maps to a single combined value in the table to enable an accurate colour regeneration with the correct saturation or hue.
Also, Nikon’s N-Log 3D LUT has been tested and confirmed that it can be used with the following applications, Adobe Premier Pro CC, Apple Final Cut Pro X or Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve 16.
More information on how to install the N-Log 3D LUT is available via the Technical Guide, also available in the Download Centre. https://downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/en/download/sw/168.html
