It’s been a long time coming. Canon have just announced the 1DX Mark III and it blows everything out of the water. With just over 6 months to go for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Canon have pulled out the stops, to deliver the most powerful DSLR camera.
Hardware and Features
The Canon 1DX sports a versatile full frame 20.1MP sensor, backed up with a powerful DIGIC X image processor. The DIGIC X image processor is claimed to be 3.1x faster than running dual DIGIC 6 processors. Furthermore this deadly combination provides:
- 16fps continuous shooting or 20fps soft shutter with full AF
- 4K video up to 60fps. With the ability to record in 5.5K.
- C-Log and 10 bit recording
- A.I. real time AF
- High extended ISO Range of 50-819,200
Ergonomics
Basically identical to the Canon 1DX Mark II, however there’s one big difference. The Canon 1DX Mark III uses a smart controller, which is located on the new AF-ON button. Instead of using a janky joystick, the smart controller allows you to swiftly move focus points.
