We’ve been big fans of the entry level Fujifilm X series cameras since the X-A3. However the latest 2019 iteration is easily their best X-A camera to date. The Fujifilm X-A7 is packed full of features, strong hardware and ergonomic changes.
- 24.2MP APS-C CMOS Sensor
- UHD 4K and Full HD Video Recording
- 3.5″ 2.76m-Dot Articulating Touchscreen
- ISO 200-12800
- Continuous 6 fps shooting
Design and Construction
The Fujifilm X-A7 has gone through a complete redesign. The physical size of the body is wider and larger to accomodate the large 3.5 inch flip out touch screen. The new screen boasts a native aspect ratio of 16:9 and can be changed to suit shooting needs.
The menu system is identical to any other Fujifilm X series camera however there is now a revamped quick access touch menu. The touch menu gives you quick access to controls such as film simulation, depth control, portrait enhancer and more. In terms of ports the Fujifilm X-A7 houses a 2.5mm microphone port, mini hdmi port and USB charging port.
Surprisingly the Fujifilm X-A7 is a strong performer. It internally houses a large 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor for high resolution imagery. The autofocus performance in the X-A7 is quite strong. For vloggers there is facial detection autofocus performance, which does a adequate job. The ability to shoot 4K video and Full HD video recording is fantastic. For those who love shooting slow motion there is a high frame rate option, however it is only at 720p.
Below are samples shot with the Fujifilm X-A7 and the XC 15-45mm kit lens. Although the images could look better with an XF lens, we wanted to see how the kit lens stacks up with the cameras hardware. All in all, the Fujifilm X-A7 produces great colour and detail.
For the low price point, the Fujifilm X-A7 packs a lot of punch. We highly recommend this camera for anyone who is looking for an entry level Fujifilm camera to learn photography and is a great camera for vloggers.
