A compact Nikon Z series camera has just dropped and it’s exciting. This is the first time Nikon has released an APS-C mirrorless camera (about time!). Let’s look into the Nikon Z50 a bit deeper.
Z Mount with a DX twist
As mentioned above the Nikon Z50 uses an APS-C mount. Therefore allows the Nikon Z50 to be lightweight, compact and able to mount Nikons DX and FX, Z mount lenses. This is the perfect Nikon mirrorless camera for beginners and enthusiasts. The ability to access the FX Z mount range allows for room to grow.
- 20.9MP CMOS sensor
- Up to 11 fps shooting with AE/AF, 5 fps with live view
- 4K video at up to 30p (uncropped)
- 2.36M-dot OLED viewfinder

Ergonomics & Handling
Despite being compact, Nikon nailed the ergonomics on the Nikon Z50. Despite being smaller the Nikon Z50 feels great in the hands like the Nikon Z6 & Z7. Firstly the deep grip is still present in the Nikon Z50, which is great for general usage. The Nikon Z50 is claimed to be weather sealed too, which is a big deal compared to it’s competitors.
Stay tuned for pre order information, pricing and a future review when we get one in our hands.
