The Sony a9 was Sony’s message to the world, that mirrorless is professional ready. In light of the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympics, its the perfect opportunity for Sony to push out some new gear. Furthermore Sony have just announced the new Sony a9II, but is it going to be the professionals choice?
The Sony a9II has kept most of the internals that made the a9 popular. It still borrows the same 24MP full frame sensor, 693 point AF system, 10 fps mechanical and 20fps electronic no blackout shooting speeds, 4K and Full HD videos.
Here are a list of the upgrades in the Sony a9 II:
- New Bionz X Image Processor: The new image processor beefs up the autofocus performance, allowing it to do more continuous AF calculations. Therefore benefitting the electronic features such as eye AF, facial detection and more
- Upgraded body design: Similar to the a7RIV the Sony a9II houses a deeper grip and better ergonomics. In addition increased dust and moisture resistance. New buttons and refined USB-C port have been added for a premium pro body experience.
- A new image processing algorithm: The new algorithm is said to boost up the Sony a9II’s low light performance and reduction of noise in higher ISOs.
- Digital Audio Interface has been added.
