Straight off the bat of the super popular Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K comes the next big thing. The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K is looking to blow the market out of the water with it’s leading features and hardware.
- Canon EF Mount
- Super 35-Sized HDR Sensor
- Video up to 6K
- Dual Native ISO 400 & 3200
Design and Handling
The design of the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K is identical to the 4K variant. Housing the same button layout, large 5 inch screen and beefy grip. The main difference in design is the large lens mount, utilising Canons beloved EF mount. This is fantastic new for any Canon user, or videographer as most would utilise the Canon EF system. Furthermore the sensor has been stepped up from a Micro four thirds sensor to a 6K Super 35 sensor.
With the lack of in body image stabilisation and other ergonomic features in standard DSLR and mirrorless cameras, it is advised to use extra support equipment such as a rig for the best video experience. The camera does well in low light conditions even when pushed to 6400 ISO. Having dual native ISO increases the flexibility in unforgiving lighting conditions. A note, high frame rate video above 100fps does crop so make sure to shoot with a wider lens to compensate.
