Design and Construction
Like any other GMASTER lens the Sony 70-200mm F2.8 GM is constructed with premium materials and quality. The lens is sealed to be dust and moisture resistant. One of our favourite features about the design is its well rubberised and responsive zooming/focus rings. Four focus hold buttons are placed around the lens for easy custom setting access.
The tripod collar can be easily dismounted from the lens through sliding. Weight wise the lens is quite hefty weighing almost 1.5KG. We recommend using this lens with a vertical/battery grip for stability.
Autofocus on the Sony 70-200mm F2.8 GM is superb. The speed of the AF is fast and quite silent. Working with the latest a9 update and with the current mark III range the lens did well to get focus. One of the best traits of the 70-200MM F2.8 GM is its focus accuracy.
The Sony 70-200mm F2.8 GM produces premium sharpness, clarity and produce nice bokeh. Below we’ve uploaded our samples from the lens.
