This weeks community spotlight is the winner of our Sony Giveawaypril competition of 2019, Phil De Glanville. Phil creates some fantastic photos and composites that we absolutely love. So we decided to pick his brain to see how he creates his fine work.
What gear do you use?
What type of photography are you into?
Mainly aerial and landscape but would love to get into portraits and street a bit more… being a graphic designer my images often have a bit of a surreal twist.
How did you start shooting? What inspires you?
Been shooting for a while but only started getting more serious about photography when I got my first drone almost 2 years ago… There are so many amazing photographers on Instagram, I’m constantly being inspired by them! Besides that inspiration can come from all over the place – movies, music and so on.
Any tips for anyone starting out?
Just get out there and shoot as much as you can. Always be learning new skills and improving – theres so many great tutorials on YouTube & sites like Skillshare where you can learn practically anything.
Lastly how did you take your winning shot?
The shot was taken at the Pinnacles in Nambung National Park, WA. My camera was set to a 25 sec exposure (f2.8, 4000iso 16mm). In those 25 seconds one person stood in position while 3 others light painted the outlines with glow sticks!
