As the years go on there has been a huge increase in range and growth for mirrorless cameras. Last year saw Sony fastly approaching the top spot of most cameras sold and it’s looking to continue. With the huge offerings coming from Sony, Fujifilm, Panasonic and Olympus systems, it looks like mirrorless technology is on the rise very quickly.
Traditional DSLRs are seen to kind of reach a plateau in terms of technology at the moment. In comparison to mirrorless systems which are pushing out extra high frame rates, sophisticated autofocus systems and unique technology such as live composite from Olympus and 4K pre burst from Panasonic.
In addition to compactness of a mirrorless is extremely appealing. You get the same quality as a DSLR but in a smaller body with a large range of lenses and sensor sizes. There is still a place for DSLRs at the moment with the amount of glass available and the robustness of their bodies. It will be interesting to see where cameras will go in the near future and maybe one day a world that is fully mirrorless.
