A year ago my colleague Josh and I decided to start a Youtube channel (GeorgesCamerasTV) for our store. We had a vision of wanting to create informative yet entertaining product reviews. Personally myself I have never ventured into video nor had any high experience with Youtube, apart from spending hours of my day watching random vlogs and how to videos.
We launched our first video with a review of the Sigma 12-24mm F4 which to our surprise did okay, considering at the time we had two subscribers (Josh and I). We continually pushed content every week for a long period of time and we saw high amounts of growth over the last year.
What I love about YouTube is that growing on the channel is a lot more refreshing. YouTube rewards you for producing great content and producing it consistently just like any other social media channel. Unlike other social media channels, I feel people are more drawn and physically engaged with video content on YouTube than any other channel.
Over the year, we’ve amassed over 4000 subscribers and 600000+ views. It’s been a fantastic experience so far and I highly recommend any aspiring filmmakers, vloggers and videographers to get on YouTube. For Josh and I especially we’ve enjoy watching our channel grow but also it has pushed us to be better presenters and videographers. We’ve seen our content quality change over the year; I’m not sure we’d be able to produce what we do today if we hadn’t taken the leap and started the channel.
Make sure to subscribe to channel and keep up to date with what we do.
